NCAN publishes NCCPC article “California Bans Scholarship Displacement”

Hard work and dedication pays off!

The National College Attainment Network (NCAN) has published an article from NCCPC on their national blog announcing the signing of the California Ban on Scholarship Displacement Act. This act will ensure that the hard-earned scholarship funds will be fully available to the students without being reduced because of external factors, which disproportionately effects low-income students.

This legislation was the culmination of 3 years of hard work, unwavering student advocacy, and coalition building by NCCPC in partnership with SoCal Can and Scholarship America. Together we created the #Handsoffmyscholarship campaign and collected support from all over the state of California. NCCPC was honored to participate in the NCAN Conference in September where we partnered with SoCal CAN and scholarship displacement expert Michele Waxman Johnson to present our campaign and promote continued student advocacy work.
