The Speakers

Bronwyn Garrison (she/her/s) is an Assistant Director of Compliance at the University of California, San Diego Financial Aid and Scholarships Office. With nearly 19 years experience supporting the higher education community, including 15 years in financial aid, Bronwyn has the pleasure of working with an incredible, diverse community of dedicated professionals. Bronwyn serves in multiple roles with the California Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (CASFAA), including as the 2022 CASFAA President. There is never a dull moment in financial aid, and with so many changes coming our way she is grateful for the opportunity to serve and support students and staff.

Dr. Christina Tangalakis, FAAC® (She/Her) has 20 years of experience in higher education in various roles focused on equity and access, student success, retention, enrollment management, scholarships and administration. Christina is currently the Associate Dean of Financial Aid at Glendale College, in Glendale, California. She is active in her local, state, regional and national associations and is proud to have served on the NASFAA board for 2020-2021 as a Commission Director, overseeing the work of the State Advocacy and Implicit Bias task forces. Her other association roles include NASFAA CFAA Commission Chair, WASFAA’s Ethnic Diversity Chair for 2020-2022, and CASFAA President-elect.

Dr. Tangalakis has worked in four different sectors of higher education and has a broad understanding of the challenges facing financial aid administrators. As a parent of three daughters, all college graduates, Dr. Tangalakis has navigated the financial aid process from the personal and the professional perspective. She has a keen interest in conversations about how students experience the financial aid process and the ways our industry creates unnecessary barriers to student equity and access.

In 2014, Christina published her doctoral thesis on the college-going identities of Latinx students without documentation. Christina also serves on the board of the Foundation for the AIDS Monument and lives in north Los Angeles with her family. 

Jenny Garcia is currently the Associate Director of Compliance and Training at the University of San Francisco. Jenny has 4 years of experience as a financial aid administrator. She currently serves as CASFAA’s Vice President of State Issues. She has been a CASFAA member since 2019.

Anafe Robinson is currently serving as Acting Dean of Student Services overseeing Financial Aid,Counseling, Career Center, Transfer Center, Welcome and Virtual Centers. Anafe has over 30 years of financial aid experience and she holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration/TechnologyManagement and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration.She stays active in the California Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (CASFAA), the California Community College of Student Financial Aid Administrators (CCCSFAAA), the Western Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (WASFAA) associations serving various capacities and roles.

She is currently one of the financial aid trainers for CASFAA and WASFAA. Anafe has served as President of CCCSFAAA in 2021, President of CASFAA in 2020, Vice-President of Federal Issues for CASFAA (2015) and CCCSFAAA (2016-2017). Anafe has the honor of holding the NASFAA Certified Financial Aid Administrator and also is credentialed in many NASFAA U topics. In addition to her Financial Aid Director role and volunteering for state associations, Anafe also is an adjunct faculty at Moorpark College teaching Business courses.
