Sobrato Philanthropies Partners with NCCPC to Build Capacity for Collective Impact

Sobrato Philanthropies awards NCCPC with a grant of $465,000 over three years to expand support for college access, college success, and career launch

RICHMOND, CA – NCCPC is thrilled to announce we have received a grant from Sobrato Philanthropies! These funds will strengthen our mission to make college accessible and affordable for marginalized and underrepresented students in Northern California and beyond.

For over 70 years, Sobrato Philanthropies has partnered with communities to meet immediate needs, address systemic barriers, and pursue social justice to build a more equitable and sustainable world. The team at Sobrato is committed to addressing issues of racism, injustice and inequality and have expanded their philanthropy to contribute more to this work.

The grant provided by Sobrato Philanthropies will further NCCPC’s goal to create systemic change by eliminating income and wealth disparities which disproportionately impact BIPOC, low-income, and first generation students. Removing these deeply integrated socio-economic barriers will allow easier access and affordability to marginalized students seeking a college education.

We believe that investing in NCCPC will not only support NCCPC to transition from a super lean start-up org to a stronger organization with more capacity to provide deep collaboration, facilitation, and technical support to members, it will also strengthen the foundation for college access and success partners across 12 counties to remove systemic barriers and support first generation students to thrive.” ~ Hana Ma, Program Officer at Sobrato Philanthropies
